DESCRIPTION: Hason, the narrator, is a chronic crybaby. Prior to his birth, Hason’s mother, an immigrant nurse, was framed and arrested by the FBI for murder. Based on interviews, diaries, unpublished memoirs, and personal archives, this hilariously sad semi-autobiographical coming-of-age story confronts intimacy, violence, patriarchy, and the traumatic impacts of racism and sexism on the Filipino American family.
